Case study

A client of Merciere's, whose parent company is based in France, does business in the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Poland and Hungary. Our client started an online store with equipment for offices, schools, warehouses and households.

Our assignment was to provide quality translations from Czech into Slovak, Polish and Hungarian, whilst placing the emphasis on as many relevant keywords as possible to fine-tune the SEO optimization.

We established 3 translation teams, each having 3 members (all native speakers of the given language) who completed training given by the client's copywriters and marketing specialists. The requirements for the correct keywords were clearly defined and we came to an agreement on the most suitable interpretation of the content.

Firstly, we defined and translated key terminology (TB) using the company's CAT tools and then delivered it to our client for approval. The next step was to create Translation Memory (TM) from existing translations. Finally, we merged our translation processes with the client's processes, which placed special focus on the harmonization of the input and the output data structure (.xml format). Once the processes were established, the project was undertaken by the CAT tool Trados Studio 2019.

After a 6-month period and ca. 600,000 translated words, the client was very satisfied to see a 20% growth in page views. After a 12-month period and ca. 1,700,000 translated words, the client achieved 40% year-on-year growth in page views.
